What is the difference between sustain and reverb?

-Sustain - maintaining the same note (although it might be varied by a guitar whammy for instance) for a long time. This is a common feature of heavier guitars like the Les Paul. Electronic or acoustic feedback can also be used to help sustain a note. When you hold a key down on an organ or synthesizer set up for organ - you are sustaining the note.

Reverb - think of it as an echo, like a sound reverberating through a large room. It is the note being blended back onto itself by mechanical (spring, room acoustics) or electronic means. When it gets to the point of being a full repeat (two separate notes), it is then called "echo".sustain= how long you can hold a single note (same thing as a compressor)

reverb= an echo
Hi a sustained note is one which goes on for ever, whilst a reverb note echos back and forth.

or reverbe rates around a room.
