Is Epiphone a good guitar brand?

-I found a Epiphone dr-100 for a good price. I wanted to know if epiphone was a good brand for a beginner guitar. Not so much for their low end acoustic guitars. Epiphone makes pretty good electric guitars and some of their higher end acoustics are decent, but their $100 acoustics are not worth buying. Save up a bit more and get a Yamaha FG700S with a solid spruce top and you'll be glad you did. Also, Epiphone guitars tend to have chunky necks and high action, both of which are not good for a beginner just learning to play. I don't recommend them to any of my students. If you want a good $100 guitar, get a Takamine Jasmine, but even that won't compare to a solid top acoustic like the Yamaha. Guitar Center also sells a solid top Mitchell guitar for $149. I've played them and they are a nice guitar for the money. I still like the Yamaha better for $50 more, but if you're on a very tight budget it's a good option. The real answer... Yes AND No.

Old Epiphones can be worth a lot of money.

Like any guitar brand, you're going to get what you pay for. Epiphone has a couple of nice guitars on the higher end of their guitar line. They do have to pay Gibson a portion of their sales on Les Paul style guitars and any other guitar that they put the Gibson name on.

There are several other brands and models of guitar that I would buy before an Epiphone, but for a starter brand, it should be fine, in fact, it's what I learned on. All you need to get, is anything that has 6 strings on it (except for guitars that come from Walmart, Target, Best Buy or Costco).
Heeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllll noooooooooooooooo! That thing will fall apart in a week. If you're gonna get an Epiphone, you're gonna want to spend at least $400 so that you can be sure it won't kill itself underneath its own suckiness in two seconds.
The DR 100 is there basic beginners guitar, gets about the best reviews out of all the guitars in its price range, which isn't saying much as there only $99 bucks brand new. but other than that Epiphone makes a quality product,
Epiphones are made in China like lots of other beginners' guitars. The DR-100 is a bottom of the line, all-plywood guitar. I would advise you to spend more and at least get a guitar with a solid wood top.
I would agree against the Epiphone DR-100. I think the cheapest guitar I would buy is the Yamaha 200s - the solid top. Then, if you can find a cheap spruce top seagull, that would be good.
They make some decent guitars and some crappy guitars. They don't really make any high quality guitars. They are Gibson's budget brand, so it wouldn't make sense for them to do so.
Their low-end acoustic guitars are not good. I've played a DR-100 a few times now, and it's really bad. Buy a Silvercreek D-160, which is in the same price range and MUCH better.
For a beginner guitar its not that bad. then again it depends on how it sounds n such. .
Yeah. It is a leading brand =)
Sure.
